  17.         I haven't found the answer to this problem yet, in spite of the 
  18. excellent help I have been getting from you netters. I didn't want anyone 
  19. to think I was ungrateful, so many sincere thanks from the heart of my 
  20. bottom to everyone who took the time out to reply to my post ; and 
  21. here's a summary of the stuff I've tried so far.

  23. 1).     Remove "lastdrive=" statement from the config.sys.
  24.         
  25.         If I do this the PC won't attach to the network. Maybe this
  26.         would work for Novell, but for PC-NFS it's a no-no.
  27.

  29. 2).     Set "lastdrive=" to the letter that is before the drives the
  30.         network need to work.
  31.  
  32.         Again, the PC fails to mount the network.
  33.  
  34.  
  35. 3).     Remove any "subst" drives.
  36.  
  37.         None are set up.

  40. 4).     Load the network drivers ahead of windows.

  45. 5).     Do you run Win 3.1 rather than 3.0 ?

  50. 6).     Is file manager or an application trying to read the j: drive     
  51.         on Windows launch?

  56. 7).     Set up Win31 for PC-NFS : special TSRs & tell Windows 
  57.         'there is no network'.

  59.         I am using the standard setup for windows & PC-NFS which
  60.         works on 100's of PCs on campus every day. {But not this 
  61.         one *sob* :( } It does include theose TSRs & Windows is set
  62.         up for 'no network'.

  64. Thats most of it. Finally, I have reinstalled Windows, and reinstalled the     
  65. network connection software, and no joy. I even tried running the network 
  66. version of windows, rather than this guy's local version, and that 
  67. displayed the same symptoms. The network version is definately set up OK,
  68. so I am beginning to believe the problem is not with Windows.

  70. I think I'll check out the PC-NFS newsgroups, and see if anyone there 
  71. can suggest anything else.
