- I have had a problem with Word for Windows on my system. I think the
- problem is related to Windows 3.1 since a few other applications act
- screwy. If I invoke the equation editor and type, say, x, then select
- reduced size superscript, then select the fraction (fraction in a
- superscript), the fraction is several screens tall and is unusable. I
- get a black line from the fraction down several pages as iff Windows is
- rendering the font extremely tall.
-
- Now, I have access to other machines, simularly configured, but with a
- different CPU. They work perfectly. This is the only machine I have
- problems with. My configuration is:
- 25 MHz 386SX. No-name motherboard, AMI bios (64K)
- 8 M ram
- 106 Meg HD
- VRAM VGA 512K video card (Video-7)
- HP Deskjet printer.
-
- Like I said, I think the problem is related to the CPU. Is there some
- setting in Windows anyone would suggest. I have stripped the system to
- nothing but basic DOS-5 and a new Windows and WFW installation, to no
- avail. I updated WFW from 2.0a to 2.0b, also with no effect.
-
- Any ideas?
