- Summary: Printing problem on Deskjet 500
- Keywords: Deskjet 500
-
- Your printer problem may not be in the printer driver. I had a
- printing problem on my deskjet 500 and it turned out to be a problem with
- the video driver. Call HP and ask them about your problem, they told me
- my problem and after I loaded another video driver (crystal-fonts) my
- printer works great!
-
- To load another video driver in Windows 3.1, run Setup and select the
- Video system, look through the list of drivers and try another driver.
-
-
- There is a definite connection between the video system and the printer,
- I would like a technician to explain it to us all. My guess is that the
- printer driver has the video driver create the print image in the video
- memory and then the printer driver sends that to the printer.
-
- I hope this helps you, and I hope we can educate a few people who wish
- to blame their printer driver and Microsoft for all their problems. Who
- creates all those printer drivers that MS releases with 3.1? Do you think
- MS does? I expect printer companies send those drivers to Microsoft for
- release with MS software.
-
- Hewlett-Packard was very helpful to me and though I had to pay for the
- call, I didn't have to wait to get through to them.
