  17. It is.   There is a virus called Proto-T, but it is just a variant of the
  18. Civil War II virus, and was detected as such (at least by some anti-virus
  19. programs such as my own F-PROT) when it was discovered.  The virus found in
  20. some hacked versions of PkZip is a different one - totally unrelated.

  22. There is nothing at all remarkable about this virus, and the author of the
  23. original posting is either trying to spread disinformation or just simply
  24. does not know the slightest thing about viruses.

  26. This is just one of the 1500+ viruses that are not likely to affect anybody.

  28. There have been rumours recently of other viruses named Proto-T, but as far
  29. as I can see there is nothing at all to worry about.
