- I recently purchased Superstor v2. After compressing my hard drive with it,
- I could not get the computer to boot from the hard drive or the emergency
- floppy they tell you to make. I kept getting a "protection error".
- After playing phone tag with Addstor's tech support I finally got a solution
- and thought I'd share it, since from what the tech support guy said, I think
- this would affect anyone who uses it with DRDos 5.0.
-
- Apparently there is a minor incompatability. I don't think it is even
- possible to make a mountable disk, but don't quote me on that.
-
- In order to get a Superstor fixed disk to boot with DRDos 5.0, after you
- install it and compress the disk, you must boot with a regular floppy, NOT
- the emergency one with Superstor on it. Find the DRDos disk that has the
- "attrib.com" file and insert it in drive a:.
- At the A> prompt type: attrib c:sspartss.swp -h -s -r
- then type: ren c:sspartss.swp sspartss.add
-
- Now remove the disk on hit Ctrl-Alt-Del and it should boot correctly from
- the hard disk.
-
- Hope this helps someone,
-
