- Hi. I'm looking for some suggestions. I'd like a "reference manager"
- that works with Wordperfect 5.1 for DOS. I'd like to be able to maintain
- a database of references that will eventually be added to the bibliography
- of one or more papers. Ideally, I want to accomplish the following:
-
- 1) Assign each reference a label. The label can be used in the documents
- that will be prepared using Wordperfect. Eventually, these labels should
- expand in the paper to a bracketed citation like [1] or [AZ].
-
- 2) It should be possible, given the Wordperfect document with labels,
- to fetch the appropriate references from the database and put them into
- the bibliography. In particular, references in the database that are not
- used in the paper should not be included in the bibliography.
-
- 3) It should be possible to sort the bibliography either alphabetically
- by author or chronologically (by first reference in the paper).
-
- 4) Citations in the body of the paper should be able to expand either to
- a numeric reference,an alphabetical reference, or possibly to something
- like [Author, 1991].
-
- 5) Refernces are of different types---for examples, books, book chapters,
- and journal articles. It should be possible to format all of these
- appropriately. It shopuld also be relatively easy to change the format.
-
- Does such a product exist? I'm willing to spend some money, so I will
- consider commercial, shareware, or freeware products, provided they
- can do what I want.
-
- Thanks for your advice,
