- How about Linux? With a 300K kernel, shared libraries, dynamically
- allocated kernel structures like PTYs, etc, memory and disk usage
- is minimal. You can fit an entire installation, with X11R5 (As in
- the full set of MIT fonts and clients), 'C' / C++, etc into 40M of
- disk.
-
- Best of all, its free. Available via anonymous ftp from tsx-11.mit.edu:
- /pub/linux. Try the SLS distribution, under /pub/linux/packages/SLS.
- Also available on floppy disks (ie, SLS distribution) or CDROM.

- It doesn't run 'X', many applications don't compile out of the box,
- it has poor support for wierd hardware like multi-port and SCSI boards,
- etc.
