- According to a recent comparison published by AMD, AMD's 386-40 runs about
- neck-and-neck with a 25 MHz Cyrix 486DLC (which is itself a little slower
- than a comparable Intel 486). The chips' speeds were rated in MIPS (around 10)
- and using the Landmark rating (don't remember this one). I would imagine that
- the Intel 486-33 would be noticeably faster due to its on-board 8K cache and
- pipelined architecture. But 386-40s are tough to beat from a price-vs.-
- performance standpoint.

- Just my opinion, but you might be better off getting a 386-40, lots of RAM
- (X is a pig; 8 megs is workable, I hear 16 megs is better), and a fast
- SVGA card (if you have any money left over ;-) )
