- Hi!
-
- First my thanks to Thomas Dunbar for his nice gift of TeX (and of course to
- Peter MacDonald for the easy-installable SLS distribution.
-
- Now to my complaints :)
-
- Last weekend I did a complete reinstall from the SLS distribution, using the
- newest stuff to be found on tsx-11.mit.edu. To my surprise tex left me with
- the message that it couldn't find the 4.2 C-library. After a checking a bit
- I realized (in fact I read the file files.tex from the disk t1...) that the
- binaries were built with gcc2.3.3 & 4.2 libs. As the rest of the SLS
- distribution is built with gcc2.2.2 & 4.1 libs, this might not be such a good
- idea.
- If I got that right, upgrading to gcc2.3.3 would mean, that most binaries
- would need recompiling. Fortunately I had the old binaries still on a disk
- so I can run tex now. But for other people without this luck this would be
- a real problem.
- So is there a solution around ?
