  15. First my thanks to Thomas Dunbar for his nice gift of TeX (and of course to
  16. Peter MacDonald for the easy-installable SLS distribution.

  18. Now to my complaints :)

  20. Last weekend I did a complete reinstall from the SLS distribution, using the
  21. newest stuff to be found on tsx-11.mit.edu. To my surprise tex left me with
  22. the message that it couldn't find the 4.2 C-library. After a checking a bit
  23. I realized (in fact I read the file files.tex from the disk t1...) that the
  24. binaries were built with gcc2.3.3 & 4.2 libs. As the rest of the SLS
  25. distribution is built with gcc2.2.2 & 4.1 libs, this might not be such a good
  26. idea.
  27. If I got that right, upgrading to gcc2.3.3 would mean, that most binaries
  28. would need recompiling. Fortunately I had the old binaries still on a disk
  29. so I can run tex now. But for other people without this luck this would be
  30. a real problem.
  31. So is there a solution around ?
