- That sounds very well indeed! And what about defining a 'standard set' of
- keywords to be used? I would recommend the following ones:
-
- kernel -> kernel related postings (so it would be easy for Linus to get them!)
- libs -> postings related to the libraries
- prog -> postings regarding progamming under linux (also gcc questions should
- go to the gnu newsgroup!)
- net -> network related topics
- docs -> postings about the documentation (would help Lars ...)
- SLS -> SLS specific postings (that one is for Peter :-) )
- X386 -> only for linux-specific X386 topics, like announcements, bugs ...
- everything else should go to comp.windows.x.i386
- TeX -> only for linux-specific things, like announcements, bugs, ...
- but everything else should go to the TeX newsgroup(s)
- contact -> Everything like announcing user groups, requests for contacts ...
- admin -> 'administrative' postings (if someone takes the task), could be used
- for the announcment of new keywords and treir replacement ...
- discuss -> if you would like to start a discussion of a topic :-)
- this could allow everyone to exclude the discussions (who would do
- that?)
-
- But the set of this keywords should be limited, to be useful that is!
- What do you think about this? Could it be helpful? And if yes, should there be
- some sort of supervisor for this thing?
- Or is this posting just "wasting bandwidth" ? (I hope not !)
