- I saw Rainer Kirsch's post about the SyQuest removable drive, in which he
- mentioned that the light stays on while the disk is mounted, so that you
- won't take it out while it's mounted by accedent. This seems to me like
- a great idea!
-
- I have had problems before forgetting to unmount before removing a floppy
- disk, and the average user used to DOS would probably be even more likely
- to forget sometimes. Would it be possible to make it so that the light
- will stay on when a floppy disk is mounted, as a reminder to unmount before
- removing?
-
- This would probably be more difficult, but it would also be useful if the
- disk light stayed on from when a write begins until it's sync'd, for
- example when tarring to a floppy, if you take it out after the tar finishes
- and the light goes out, the data won't be there until the sync! I realize
- that this might not be simple to implement, but I think it would make life
- easier for all linux users.
