  24.     Greetings. That's the BIOS panicking... Is that an IDE drive?
  25.     If so, check the "controller" for a severe failure - some
  26.     of the systems I fixed had literally BLOWN buffer chips.
  27.  
  28.     If that's not the problem, post the COMPLETE model # of the 
  29.     drive and ask if anyone had the same drive that died of a 
  30.     MEDIA problem - this will see if maybe the controller on the 
  31.     drive is dead.

  33.     IF, someone is REAL nice, ask them if they could send you their
  34.     WORKING drive and see if substituting the boards with your
  35.     drive will fix the problem. The only 2 bad things that this
  36.     will/may do is:

  38.     1) Void the person's warranty
  39.     2) Blow his board (arghh...)
  40.  
  41.     If that does NOT work, call up a CREDIBLE hard drive recovery
  42.     company (look in Computer Shopper) and ASK for an estimate.
  43.     Consider that you may spend AS MUCH for the recovery as paying
  44.     for someone else'es blown drive (#2 above).

  46.     While doing all of the above - pray.

  50.     P.S. Ask that angel to back up HIS/HER data before letting you
  51.     do brain surgery on their drive :-)
