- It's time for an evil thread to re-appear again,... the bickering of where
- programs should go in the 'purist' fashion,... there was a sortof white paper
- compiled a long time in the distant past about the linux file structure and
- how it should be cobbled together. eg how to get the system up and running on
- the minimum disk space/programs similar to the currently available bootdisks
- The white paper I talk off is in the docs directory on tsx-11 (i think but
- could be wrong)
-
- the main argument was what where the key programs for bringing up a multiuser
- unix system eg /etc must be on the boot partition as it holds the rc script
- and it would be foolish to boot a kernel without being able to mount up the
- FS that provided utilities to mount up all the other FS's available (I'm not
- explaining this too well... but you get the idea)
