- I had a similar problem setting up Linux with my old modem. Look in
- your modem manual for the S register (I think it's S25) which controls
- how long the modem waits after DTR drops before hanging up. Often
- the factory default is quite short, so any tiny glitch on the DTR
- signal will cause hangups like the one you see. Set S25 to a larger
- value (20 causes it to wait 200ms; 50 gives a half-second timeout) and
- I'll bet your problem is solved. Don't forget to save the value into
- the modem's NV RAM.
