- Possibly, but changing "softland" to "myname" using hostname and not
- changing each of the several tcp/ip configuration files in /etc/inet
- will break the tcp/ip stuff. As it is, I've edited the files carefully, and
- somewhere still introduced a mistake because, while almost everything
- seems to work, I still get a "no root nameserver" something-or-other
- error (I think from the NFS stuff) which goes away using the default
- tcpip.taz configuration (softland). Perhaps a script, or more
- information on just what is being done in these files, would be helpful.
- I've tried the various network-faqs, which have been very helpful, but
- were not sufficient for me to get something to actually work until I
- threw away my own attempts and hacked the SLS installed version instead.i
-
- Anyway, if he changes the name from softland, he also has to edit a
- bunch of files in /etc/inet, which, since softlands full name is
- softland.softland.other.stuff, can get kinda tricky (is softland referring
- to a domain name, or the host name, or what ...?)
-
- Now if I can just find a good reference book for tcp/ip and internet
- software installation/configuration, I'll be all set ...
