- Hello Linux Fans!
-
- Linux and Adaptec1542B cooperate very well. The 1542B controller is
- supported by the bootdisks of the SLS distribution.
- Devices are sdx9
- ^^
- |\ numerical value for partition (0 whole disk, 1.. partitions)
- \ alphabetical value for drive (a..)
- a is the drive with lowest SCSI
- b next etc. (SCSI id's need not to be consecutive
- without gaps - any combinations allowed -
- without those with double numbers of course)
- If you use removable media (I am using Syquest 44MB Cartridges)
- and you want to (re)compile the 0.99px kernel you have to choose no
- at the question for the always in option.
- Removable drives have to be unmounted before you can get them out -
- but 0.99x Linux is very clever (tested in conjunction with AHA1542B)
- the green drive led stays on and the drive refuses unload until you
- really unmount it!
- Well done by Linux and his programming community!!!
-
- Feel free for further questions!
- Happy hacking!
