- ok.... I guess this should be a FAQ... I am still confused about what
- computer I should buy... I have gotten Linux and X to work on 7 of my
- friend's computers.. now its time for me to buy mine... The questions
- is what will work.
-
- Eisa vs Local Bus:
-
- I am told that Linux now support EISA (correct me if I am wrong)
- so therefore I should get a Adaptec SCSI 32-bit controller????
- or I have also heard that Linux only works with 16-bit disk controllers.
- and that the Adaptec run in 16 bit mode... but work in 32 bit mode under
- dos... (please correct me anytime)..
- and hopefully Linux will support 32-bit disk access later were the
- full capabilities of the controller will come in handy???
- To tell you the truth I am not even sure that the Adaptec is a 32-bit
- card.
-
- My next option if EISA dont work is local bus disk control??? will Linux
- take advantage of this??
-
- Any finally ofcourse is the question about video speed.
- EISA or Local bus taking into account the above disk controller questions.
-
