  25. Just out of interest I just ran iozone v1.16 here on my setup,
  26. 386sx25/16Mb (not runnning the BUS as fast as I could as the video
  27. card freaks out if I do), IDE caching controller with 4Mb on board,
  28. Quantum 240Mb IDE drive with on board 256Kb cache.

  30. I got iozone to use a 10Mb file to defeat linuxs cache, which
  31. resulted in the following.

  33.   - Write time 25.29 Sec
  34.   - 414620 Bytes/Sec write
  35.   - 217141 Bytes/Sec read

  37. That was writing/reading 20480 512 byte records to a Minix partition.

  39. Under DOS with coretest I get 800Kb second transfer rate with  IDE
  40. controller cache disabled, and 1400Kb second with it enabled, but then
  41. a assume coretest is using a smaller file.
