  13. The printer daemon hpd is used by the printing program hpr to control
  14. printing on a Hewlett-Packard compatible LasetJet printer.  I have
  15. noticed a few minor bugs.  These were noted using an HP LaserJet 4
  16. printer.

  18. 1) The banner page produced by hpd is not quite the same as that made
  19. by the general printing program lpr.  The top line of the MW logo,
  20. made from several adjacent octothorpes, is somehow shifted right by
  21. about six positions.
  22.  
  23. 2) There is a little, undocumented item about hpd concerning final
  24. page eject.  While lpd always generates a page eject for the last page
  25. of a print job, hpd does not always for a final page feed.  The hpd
  26. program does appear to have a final page eject only if the hp filter
  27. program (analogous to pr) is performed.

  29. Ther may be a slight problem with the troff example given in the troff
  30. entry in the manual.  The book says

  39. with the idea of producing a big, fat letter "E" on the ouput.  Well,
  40. I tried this and all I got was a blank page.

  44. linr controll.
