  28. with a little hint from Peter Heidinger I can answer my own question:

  30. -copy the archive cm.tar.Z (PCL Fonts) from COhware II
  31. -delete all fonts except cmr12.sfp, cmb12.sfp, cmi12.sfp
  32. -create new font-width-tables (e.g. fwtable cmr12.sfp tr120rpn.usp)
  33. -replace the definitions in /usr/lib/troff/troff_pcl/fonts.r with the new ones
  34.  
  35. works ok for the Deskjet 500 without download ram available.

  37. But still I am looking for a "real" wordprocessor (e.g. TeX, groff etc.) :-))
