  14. I went out and dropped way too much money on a serial port with a 16550
  15. on board, and mwcbbs doesn't give me lost packets at 9600 baud any more.
  16. I'm getting transfer rates of 700-750 Bps, a distinct improvement over
  17. the 400 or so I'd been getting at 4800 baud.

  19. So, yes, 16550s seem to solve certain problems  (though I still can't 
  20. download using zmodem at 9600, but I'll talk to someone at the system
  21. I'm trying to download from about that).
