  21. Don't forget the noise-increasing aspect of the nonspecific accusation.

  24. One thing that bothers me a lot is the nonspecific accusation--as one a
  25. poster asserts that someone has made "straw man, ad hominem, distortions
  26. and other unpolite attacks" without specifying who the person is or what
  27. postings qualified as such attacks.

  29. It's very similar to the McCarthy-tactic of asserting that one has a list
  30. of traitors, but never showing the list.
