  22. The ProAudio Spectrum 16 (PAS16) has stereo  16 bit ADC's and DAC's, and 
  23. their software supports sampling rates up to 44.1 khz. This would suggest 
  24. that CD quality audio can be done with this device. That's why I bought one,
  25. for $199 (+tax).

  27. But there's more to it than just these figures. I haven't got the equipment 
  28. to determine whether this thing really produces CD quality. Other
  29. things to consider:

  31.     ADC quality
  32.     DAC quality
  33.     supporting analog circuitry (mixer, preamp) quality
  34.  
  35. Does anyone out there know of any comprehensive test results
  36. of this device (or others like it) in the context of a stereo,
  37. 16 bit, 44.1 khz, direct to hard disk recorder?

  39. I plan to use this thing to implement sound processing in a home recording 
  40. studio environment. Which reminds me...

  42. Has anyone out there programmed PAS16 to record and playback
  43. at the same time? I'd like to create, at the very least, a
  44. real-time digital delay/echo system.

  46. Is this even the correct group to discuss implementation of such things
  47. using commercially available sound cards?
