- The ProAudio Spectrum 16 (PAS16) has stereo 16 bit ADC's and DAC's, and
- their software supports sampling rates up to 44.1 khz. This would suggest
- that CD quality audio can be done with this device. That's why I bought one,
- for $199 (+tax).
-
- But there's more to it than just these figures. I haven't got the equipment
- to determine whether this thing really produces CD quality. Other
- things to consider:
-
- ADC quality
- DAC quality
- supporting analog circuitry (mixer, preamp) quality
-
- Does anyone out there know of any comprehensive test results
- of this device (or others like it) in the context of a stereo,
- 16 bit, 44.1 khz, direct to hard disk recorder?
-
- I plan to use this thing to implement sound processing in a home recording
- studio environment. Which reminds me...
-
- Has anyone out there programmed PAS16 to record and playback
- at the same time? I'd like to create, at the very least, a
- real-time digital delay/echo system.
-
- Is this even the correct group to discuss implementation of such things
- using commercially available sound cards?
-
- Thanks
- Robert
