- I've found after a few tries, that the best way to attend a Knowledge
- Industry Productions trade show is to skip the *expensive* seminars, go to
- the *free* general sessions, and spend a lot of time on the exhibit floor,
- watching demos, asking questions, and generally absorbing what is going on
- with new technology.
-
- The last show I went to (Image World LA) was pretty much an ego showcase
- for Quicktime developers and their herky-jerky little films. When I asked
- about DOS platform applications, I was given the brush-off, as if anyone
- who didn't have a multi-giga-byte Mac system with Spigots, and every other
- bell and whistle, wasn't worth their time.
-
- I would have hated to spend $600+ of my money to go to the seminar series
- and get that treatment. You can generally get a free exhibit hall pass by
- sending in the coupon in AV-Video or one of the other trade magazines, but
- even if you pay the $25-35 for this pass, you come away with gobs of
- literature, demo disks, and a good amount of decision making knowledge.
-
- My 2 cents worth.
