- No, no, no.
-
- If at all possible, DO NOT CONNECT the Quantum drive to the PAS 16
- card. The PAS 16 SCSI interface is a LOW SPEED interface designed for
- CDROMs, etc.; while the throughput of the PAS 16 SCSI interface is most
- than enough for CDROMs, etc., it is nowhere near the throughput of SCSI
- controllers designed primarily for use with hard disks. Also, in order
- to connect a SCSI hard disk to the PAS 16 interface, you supposedly need
- additional drivers from Trantor (read: additional $$$).
-
- Connecting a SCSI hard disk to the PAS 16 SCSI interface, when you
- already have an Adaptec card, will only SLOW DOWN your system. If this
- is your goal, by all means go ahead.
-
- I'm not sure what the problem is with the Adaptec 1522. I'm using
- the PAS 16 w/CDROM and an Adaptec 1542A w/HD, and everything works fine.
- Maybe you need a newer version of the CDROM driver (TSLCDR.SYS?).
-
- One of these days, I'm going to move the CDROM from the PAS16 to
- the 1542A.
