- Does anyone know what the difference is
- between tapes labeled for Video use and
- those labeled for Data use.
-
- I assume that the manufacturer would tell me all about
- how the magnetic density is greater, the coating is
- better, less drop outs, higher quality backing,
- etc.
-
- What I want to know is, are they really
- better from a users point of view?
-
- I have been using Exabyte and Maxell tapes and
- wonder is there is that big of a difference
- between them and the (much) cheaper Maxell
- 8mm video tapes.
-
- The Maxell tapes that I am using are labeled;
- "HELICAL-SCAN 8mm DATA CARTRIDGE", "NOMINAL
- CAPACITY: 2.5/5.0 GIGABYTES". Therefore,
- Maxell at least thinks that they are different
- enought to warrent the extra cost.
-
- Thanks, John
