- POP = Post Office Protocol

- It runs over a TCP/IP net, as far as I know there are 2 versions of
- POP, POP2 witch uses port 109 and POP3 witch uses port 110.
- In both cases the unix box must run a server (sometimes called popper)
- witch will process any requests that come from port 109 or 110 and
- then talk with the unix mail system.
