- Subject: sender's user-name substitution in "From:" ?
- Lines: 21
-
- Hello everybody,
- I am trying to have sendmail do user-name substitution for the sender's
- name in outgoing mail, without having to run NIS.
- You can also call it 'reverse aliasing': I would like full human names to
- appear in the "From:" field instead of unreadable login-names:
-
- Example:
- Instead of "From: jmk@foo.bar.edu"
- it should be "From: John.Kelter@foo.bar.edu"
-
- Is there a way to do this with the standard sendmail coming with SunOS
- 4.1, but without using NIS?
-
- My configuration: I am running SunOS 4.1 on a Sparc 1+ with the standard
- /usr/lib/sendmail.mx program.
-
- Thanks in advance for your help!
