- Our temporary/permanent arrangement here, sure to send shivers of disgust
- to e-mail programmers everywhere, has been to comment out the file
- locking stuff. I'm not a unix programmer, but our temp who has gone on
- to bigger and better stuff said the SysV locking is a leap of faith
- anyway. So...women, children, and file locking first.
-
- We also inserted a little feature, sure to send serious e-mail programmers
- to flubbing their lips with their index fingers, giving all pop users
- the same logins as their uucp system ids. When they are away from their
- desks and have only laptops with modems, they can call up and get their
- mail that way, when they are at their desks popper scavenges their
- /usr/spool/uucp/x...... directory for all of their goodies and appends
- it to their popper mailbox when they connect via the network.
