  11. Okay, I recall that this was discussed once before.  I know, I know,
  12. this is likely to cause a flamefest...

  14. What happened to the discussion on using MIME to handle a MUA
  15. level Return-Receipt (RR) mechanism?

  17. Some points:
  18.  
  19. 1.  It MUST be voluntary.  Ideal behavior would be for a MIME
  20.     MUA to ask, "Sender has requested return-receipt, would you
  21.     like to return-receipt on this message? (y/n)".  MUAs
  22.     could have user configuration parameters to a) always send
  23.     RR without asking b) always ask or c) never ask and never 
  24.     send RRs.

  26. 2.  I don't particulary care how this is to be handled MIME header-
  27.     wise (could someone recall previous discussions).
  28.  
  29. 3.  There should be a unique ID string type thing for RR message
  30.     parts so that when the receipt comes back the MUA can easily
  31.     match it to the message the receipt is for.

  33. Has anyone tried this yet (perhaps at an X-header level)?
