  24. Harald, if you delete one line in the NeXT's inittab (so that the
  25. windowing system doesn't start) you'll end up with something very
  26. close to 4.3BSD - It's definitely much cleaner than aix, ultrix,
  27. sunos and a few others that I've had the pleasure/horror (depending
  28. on mode and needs) to work with.

  30. I would not use a next if it didn't have the display postscript 
  31. windowing system so I can't really recommend to not start the
  32. NeXTSTEP environment. The bundled gcc, gdb etc. is in my view
  33. a fine thing. I don't have time to install it on every machine I
  34. use so it's a good thing it's just there...

  36. The next have for a long time had a very nice, free, MIMEmailer.
  37. I use it every now and then instead of the next supplied "nextmail"
  38. with m-m extensions. I wish next would drop their m-m mail format
  39. in favour of MIME, and I've asked them to consider that option.
  40. Anyways, you can still do it the mime way if that's your choise.

  42. Harald, I don't think any of these factors make the next a beast.
  43. You can't really rely on what I say 'cause the company I work for
  44. sell next (among other un*x bokes)...
