  24.  OK, this is what <EYE> want. Someday I'll create them, but I 
  25.  feel that others  more expert will do the job first.

  27.  WHAT IS that utility I see that allows users to QUOTE others? 
  28.  with a | or a < down the left side? Sometimes see TWO levels of 
  29.  reference. Can it be possible it's all done in real time, using 
  30.  our perfect brains, fast fingers, and free phone time.

  32.  Actually it it silly to send back a whole quote, wasting all 
  33.  those bits. I am looking at a proposal for Ted Nelson's Xanadu: 
  34.  in his system quotes are done by simply issuing a POINTER to the 
  35.  original material. Up it comes! No "in-line coding". Sounds very 
  36.  threaded and forthlike.

  38.  Here's a way a cheapo bbs could handle it: The various 
  39.  conversational "threads" would be available, and downloaded at 
  40.  the beginning of one's session, as a compressed file. It would 
  41.  be unzipped in the backround by my local com software and 
  42.  displayed somehow in another window or on the right side of my 
  43.  screen. Then quoting, additions to and references to stuff would 
  44.  be EASY, i would just have to type a NUMBER, draw a LINE or some 
  45.  other screen hack, and send it back. It would appear in the next 
  46.  guy's compressed download. Current threads, such as the one 
  47.  about screen vs textfile input in Forth, could be carried on 
  48.  cheaply New ones, such as THIS would be more "expensive", but 
  49.  who knows, I may be continuing an old thread that is too old for 
  50.  the New Messages umbrella. 
  51.  Speeking of Xanadu, has anyone coded HUMBERS (humongus numbers)
