  15. DPMI stands for "DOS Protected Mode Interface".  The DPMI spec defines services
  16. which allow protect-mode DOS applications to coexist, and was developed by
  17. Microsoft, Intel, Lotus, Phar Lap, and about a dozen other companies.  DPMI
  18. addresses some shortcomings of the earlier VCPI (Virtual Control Program
  19. Interface) spec.
