- Iverson Software Inc., 33 Major Street, Toronto, Ontario, Canada M5S 2K9
- (416-925-6096, fax 416-488-7559) has a Truetype font called ISIAPL. This font
- is in mainframe SAPL quadav sequence, which may or may not meet your needs - it
- is quite different from the more PC-popular STSC convention.
-
- This font is not available standalone, but may be had for $30 CDN as part of
- the APLIWIN beta, which is a pretty handy product in its own right. It has a
- built in Windows API interface and native Dos file manipulation quad functions.
- It is a close relative of APLI386, though that product's aux proc orientation
- has disappeared (at least temporarily) in favor of Windows functionality. This
- is a real live Windows APL.
-
- It's dead trivial to whip up a translate table and APLIWIN functions that read
- or write DOS files containing STSC-style APL characters, and various people
- (myself included) have done that. Such functions are not presently bundled with
- the product, however.
-
- I personally find the APL and the font incredibly useful, though as a tech
- support heavy for the SHARP APL mainframe product I have a somewhat skewed
- perspective since APLI is extremely compatible with the stuff I use and sell.
- The keyboard takes a bit of getting used to, especially if one uses other APL's
- a lot - some of the traditional union keyboard strokes have mystic meanings in
- Windows, so the keyboard feels a bit weird to union keyboard fans.
