  16. A few months ago there was a message from someone at STARS that
  17. said that the STARS machine will no longer be accessible via FTP.
  18. Perhaps this was only for the machine at source.asset.com, though.

  20. It's a shame, because FTP is much, much, much easier to use than
  21. the beast that you find if you dial the STARS' repository.  The
  22. repository software has brought me to tears on several occasions.  At one
  23. point, I was able to find the Unix directory that held the STARS
  24. source code, and use good old 'ls' and 'grep' to find what I was looking
  25. for, but that back door has been closed recently.  You _have_ to use
  26. the nasty repository front end.
