- One thing I havn't seen anybody mention about 3D Studio is its interface
- which allows stuff like procedural shaders and modelers to be easily
- incorporated into it. There is a fairly large supply of third party add-ons
- which use this interface. For example, I have seen add-ons for 3D studio that
- will do things like particle systems (exploding objects with gravity,
- tornadoes, fireworks, etc), additional procedural material shaders, melting
- objects, enhanced morphing capabilites, snow and rain simulations, etc.
- Most of these add-ons are fairly inexpensive (at least the ones that I have
- seen) and do add a lot to the program's capabilities.
-
- I have no idea what capabilities Lightwave has in this area, this was just
- something that I really liked about 3D Studio.
