  17.         The 1993 SIGGRAPH Technical Slide Set needs your contributions 
  18.         and its deadline is quickly approaching (2 April 1993)!  If you 
  19.         would like to contribute to this ever-growing resource of computer 
  20.         graphics reference material used throughout the professional and 
  21.         educational community, I urge you read the attached documents 
  22.         and send me your latest images today!

  24.         The following document is the SIGGRAPH Slides call.  If you 
  25.         would like to obtain the other conference submission forms,

  86.             In 1993, SIGGRAPH documents the year in computer graphics with 
  87.             computer-generated slide sets that demonstrate new or enhanced 
  88.             algorithms, procedures, and applications.  The Technical Slide Set 
  89.             reflects state-of-the-art efforts in computer graphics ranging from 
  90.             front-line advances in research to some of the most compelling 
  91.             images in the industry.SIGGRAPH often uses slide set images for 
  92.             conference promotional pieces, the opening session, media inquiries, 
  93.             and educational endeavors. ACM SIGGRAPH sells technical slide sets 
  94.             at the conference and afterwards. The technical slide set images 
  95.             may be included in the SIGGRAPH '93 CD-ROM.

  99.       Qualifying Process
  100.  
  101.             The selection process for slide sets is separate from paper, panel,
  102.             and course selection. Acceptance in one program does not guarantee
  103.             acceptance in another. If you are a paper, panel, or course pro-
  104.             poser, and you want your images considered for the slide sets, you
  105.             must submit your images separately using the following procedures.

  109.       How to Submit
  110.  
  111.             You may submit as many different images as you like for considera-
  112.             tion by the jury. Slides are not returned. All slides, regardless 
  113.             of acceptance, are catalogued for future use by the SIGGRAPH 
  114.             conference and organization.
  115.  
  116.             1     For each image you submit, complete a copy of the Slide 
  117.                   Submission Form (appended to this file).  If you are 
  118.                   submitting more than one slide, make photocopies of the form.
  119.                   Note: The submission form requests a short technical 
  120.                   description. This is the only written material the jury has 
  121.                   by which to make a decision. It must stand on its own (do 
  122.                   not refer to theory documents), and it must explain what is 
  123.                   so unique or neat about the image. What makes the image 
  124.                   special? Why is it technically or visually outstanding? Is 
  125.                   the application area new or novel? Which algorithms, 
  126.                   techniques, or procedures are new or improved? How does your 
  127.                   technique compare to previous works?
  128.  
  129.             2     Send five original 35mm slides of each image.  In English, 
  130.                   indicate FRONT/BACK and TOP/BOTTOM and print your name and 
  131.                   telephone number on the slide mounts; do not use labels. Do 
  132.                   not use glass mounts, as they tend to break in the mail.
  133.  
  134.             3     If you are considering submitting several images that repre-
  135.                   sent a time series of events, you must composite them on one 
  136.                   slide. Multiple slides in a time series are prohibited due 
  137.                   to space limitations.
  138.  
  139.             Material sent from outside the United States may be held in customs
  140.             for several days. Please take this delay into consideration. State
  141.             on the customs label: Educational material with no commercial 
  142.             value.

  146.       Compensation Policy
  147.  
  148.             SIGGRAPH '93 offers no compensation for participants whose work is 
  149.             considered or selected for slide sets and promotional pieces. 
  150.             Author(s) of each image receive a proper credit on any publication 
  151.             or promotional piece for which the slide is used.
