  23. "several" isn't the word; "most" I think, is a better description.  As far as
  24. I know, TGS's FIGraph is the closest replacement product for DISSPLA.  We've
  25. made many CA customers very happy; not only because we provide better service 
  26. than CA, but also because we've focused our development efforts on a "faster", 
  27. "smaller", "simpler", and otherwise "better" charting library.
  28.  
  29. FIGraph is not a one-to-one replacement of the DISSPLA API.  Instead, it
  30. provides equivalent functionallity with much less code.  The big reason 
  31. most FIGraph applications are just 3 lines long, is because we provide a 
  32. "graphics tree" which can be modified from a text file!  So, the ancient 
  33. programming practive of code, compile, link, and execute has been replaced 
  34. with modify text file then execute.  Thus, the time to converge on the chart 
  35. style you want has been decreased dramatically.

  37. FIGraph has both a C and a FORTRAN API and is currently shipping on 
  38. DEC VAX, HP 700, IBM MVS and RS 6000, MIPS, SGI, and SUN.  Porting plans
  39. for DEC ALPHA are in the works.
