  31. The growing acceptance of parallel computing has led to a recent surge
  32. of interest in parallel rendering techniques for computer graphics
  33. applications.  In response,  a two-day symposium on the subject will be
  34. held as part of Visualization '93.  The symposium will provide a
  35. high-quality technical program in an informal atmosphere.
  36.  
  37. Papers are solicited on all aspects of parallel rendering, including,
  38. but not limited to:

  40.      - polygon scan conversion
  41.     - ray tracing
  42.     - radiosity
  43.     - volume rendering
  44.     - constructive solid geometry
  45.     - surface generation
  46.     - scientific visualization
  47.     - massively parallel computation
  48.     - performance analysis
  49.     - I/O and display issues
  50.     - architectural impact on algorithms
  51.  
  52. Papers are not limited to a visualization context.

  57. The Parallel Rendering Symposium is being held as part of the
  58. Visualization '93 Conference.  The Conference and Symposium are
  59. sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on Computer
  60. Graphics In Cooperation with ACM SIGGRAPH.

  63. SYMPOSIUM FORMAT
  64.  
  65. In order to foster an informal atmosphere and maximize the exchange of
  66. ideas, attendance will be limited to 100 people.  The technical program
  67. will include a keynote speaker, refereed papers, and panel and group
  68. discussions.  The symposium will also feature two lunches and a dinner
  69. reception.

  79. SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS
  80.  
  81. Authors should submit 5 copies of papers and figures to Tom Crockett,
  82. ICASE, M.S. 132C, NASA Langley Research Center, Hampton, VA  23681-0001.
  83.  Submissions must be received by March 31, 1993.  Late submissions  and
  84. electronic submissions will not be accepted.  Submitted drafts must
  85. include an abstract and keywords, and should not exceed 8,000 words in
  86. length.  Authors should include their affiliations, addresses, telephone
  87. and FAX numbers, and reliable e-mail addresses.  Multi-author papers
  88. should designate one author as the point of contact.

  90. Each paper will receive a minimum of three reviews.  Reviewers' comments
  91. and notification of acceptance will be conveyed to authors via e-mail by
  92. June 1, 1993.  Camera-ready copies of papers and figures will be due no
  93. later than July 1, 1993.

  95. Video Submissions:  Video materials which will be used in conjunction
  96. with a paper may also be submitted, but are not required.  These will be
  97. considered along with reviewers' recommendations in making the final
  98. determination of acceptance.  Judging will be on the basis of technical
  99. content rather than the quality of production.  If video is submitted, a
  100. single copy in standard NTSC VHS format must accompany the paper.  To
  101. reduce shipping and handling costs, video tapes will not be returned. 
  102. Video proceedings will not be published.
