  15. I'm using a version of xterm which does not understand the arrow keys.  I tried  
  16. the following in my ~/.emacs file:

  18. (define-key global-map "^[[A" 'previous-line)

  20. I get the following message everytime I use eval-current-buffer:

  22. Key sequence ^[[A uses invalid prefix characters.
  23.  
  24. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?  Please e-mail me directly, since I
