  26. Applications are invited for a visiting faculty position beginning
  27. August, 1993. This position is a one-year leave replacement position with
  28. a possibility of renewal for a second year.
  29.  
  30. Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Computer Science is required. Experience
  31.    teaching undergraduate Computer Science is desired. Ability to teach
  32.    algorithms, database, and the- ory courses is desirable.

  34. Benefits: Standard health care benefits are provided with some employee
  35.    contribution.  Every faculty member has a private office equipped with
  36.    a workstation.

  38. Resources: The department supports a network of 14 Sun SparcStations, a
  39.    file server for the Sun network, and a 32 processor Transputer system.
  40.    The department also has access to an instructional microcomputer
  41.    laboratory and has access to both BITNET and the Internet.

  43. Minorities & Women: Hope College and the Department of Computer Science
  44.    are committed to increasing the number of women and minority persons who
  45.    attend Hope and who are computer scientists. To this end, applications
  46.    for this position from women and minority persons are especially
  47.    encouraged.

  49. Department: The Department of Computer Science has four full-time faculty
  50.    members.  Both an A.B. and a B.S. degree in Computer Science are offered.
  51.    In addition, the Department offers a major and minor for secondary
  52.    education certification. The graduating class of 1992 included 14
  53.    computer science majors, four of whom are presently attending graduate
  54.    school in computer science. The Hope College Computer Science Department
  55.    has been awarded 5 grants in the past year, including a three-year NSF
  56.    Research Experiences for Under- graduates program grant which supports
  57.    summer student research.

  59. The College: Hope College is a co-educational, residential liberal arts
  60.    college with approximately 2,700 students and is affiliated with the
  61.    Reformed Church in America. Holland is a community of about 30,000
  62.    located in western Michigan near the shores of Lake Michigan.
