- Does anyone know of any software that can be used to monitor
- a student's work on a computer (Macintosh and PC) for purposes
- of exam security?
-
- Someone recently asked me about such software. They want to
- let students use a personal computer to write their answers to
- exam questions. The students would be using the computer only
- for word processing much like they could use a typewriter rather
- than write the answers by hand.
-
- The perceived problem with such a situation is this: students
- could easily access information electronically from their own
- diskette or from a local hard disk or, if the computer is on a
- network (bad idea in this case), from some other source.
- The computer then becomes more than a word processor; it becomes
- a powerful tool the students can use to "cheat" on an exam.
-
- Personally, I think we need to revolutionize education to the point
- where such things are not important, but as education is today,
- traditional exam giving and taking is still the norm.
-
- Thanks for any clues.
