  24.    What I'm really looking for is a GOOD small version of emacs for unix. 
  25.    I have tried Microemacs 3.11 but it seems to have a few funny quirks
  26.    under unix, although it's not bad.

  29. JED is an Emacs inspired extensible editor which runs under VMS, UNIX, and
  30. MSDOS.  The latest version is 0.70 though 0.80 will be out soon.  It has an
  31. EDT mode which I have been told is excellent.  Version 0.70 is available from
  32. amy.tch.harvard.edu in the pub/jed directory.  SunOS, Ultrix, and VMS
  33. executables are in the directory as well.  A binary for MSDOS is included in
  34. the jed070.zip.  If you pick up the executables, you will still need to get
  35. one of the standard distributions.

  37. If you want a good small version of emacs for unix, then take a look at JED.
  38. I wrote it because of this reason and of the quirks of MicroEmacs, e.g.,
  39. unable to rebind the ^U key.
