- There is a low cost version of the 21020 available: The 21010.
-
- Quoting from AD's Q&A-Sheet:
-
- "The ADSP-21010 is a low-entry-price part for floating point DSP at $49.9 for
- 100 pieces. It has great performance - it does a 1024-point complex FFT in
- 1.54 ms, which is twice the performance of TI's 320C31 for lower cost."
-
- "Key differences between 21020 and 21010:
- a)The 21010 is a 32-bit only processor: it handels 32-bit IEEE Floating
- Point format and 32-bit Fixed Point format. [...] There is no 40-bit
- mode, but designers of low-cost systems would only want 32-bits anyway.
- b) Cycle time: 80ns cycle time versus the 21020's 40ns cycle time.
-
- "The 21010 is software-compatible with the 21020 (source and object code).
- The 21010 will be pin-compatible with the 21020 in the PQFP package
- (304 pins)."
-
- 304 pins, oh dear! But around 100 of them are Vdd, GND or nc.
