- No. The TB+ is a PEP only modem beyond 2400 bps. However, you CAN get
- V.42bis to work with these with the proper ROM upgrade. If you're running
- BA4.00, however, you might want to leave it alone.
-
- I have received the upgrade. The chips work. I have not, however, seen any
- specific benefit (except that some later T2500 and WB modems I can now
- connect to in PEP mode where I could not before).

-
- V.32 is a 9600 bps signalling protocol (yeah, I know, it doesn't send
- symbols at 9600 bps really :-). V.32bis is a 14.4kbs carrier rate. V.42 is
- rarely used; what you usually find is V.42bis which is an error control and
- compression protocol which runs on top of the carrier (V.32 or V.32bis, or
- even 2400 bps modems in some cases).
-
- V.32 and V.32bis are tricky monsters; they rely heavily on echo cancellation
- to work at all (ie: they cancel their "own" end's tones so they can
- differentiate the others). As you can probably surmise, this is not easy to
- do.
