- I am running SupraFAX v 32bis with a Macintosh with the factory settings
- ( by which I mean AT&F1 ) and have problems. The modem has H -ROMs.
-
- I use the modem mostly for connecting to our University unix cluster( to reach
- Internet), which uses USRobotics. The line quality is generally speaking
- excellent here, but almost every time I can hear some minor, minor scratches
- on the line, when the speaker is turned on. These scratch moments seem to be
- the source of trouble. The modem either drops down from the normal 9600 bps
- (and v.42bis) to 4800 bps (still the v. 42bis) or still stay with 9600, but
- with all cases it seems to loose the common understanding with the remote end.
- I cannot get anything through after those moments. In worst cases I get a
- sudden NO CARRIER (as just now when typing this.)
-
- OK, now I am back with a new call after that.
-
- I have used also the %E1 setting as an alternative, but it only gives a a RT
- display signal. All other things remain as above, and still I get trown out
- of the remote system.
-
- Is there anything I can do about this? Any settings which I might try with?
-
- I cannot afford to throw the SupraFax out of window, and buy something better.
