- The joys of living in florida!.
-
- Last night a lightning strike took out two v.32 modems I had set
- up in my house. And yes, they were run through a lightning protector.
- The strike also made my two line phone into a one line phone with
- additional 2nd line force busy option, and changed one of my TVs
- into a video (no sound) monitor. Sigh.
-
- Anyway, One of these modems is a prototype v.32 that Digicom made
- for Ark Electronics. The power transformer is dead. The other
- V.32 is a UDS V.3225. It seems to almost completely work. It
- powers up, it can run an AT&T0 loopback with no problems. An ATA
- makes plenty of noise. But when you do an ATDT, all I hear is
- static. My guess is that one of the relays is toast.
-
- I suspect that lightning came in the power. took out the digicom,
- the proceeded thru the phone lines to take out other stuff.
-
- So now I need some questions answered.
-
- 1) Could UDS fix this modem for a reasonable price ( <$100 )
- 2) barring that, can I find replacements for the relays
- which are a type I've never seen before. These are
- ETAL P1200's. I suspect they are solid state relays
- 3) Does anyone know the pinout of the 10V 2 Amp AC power
- transformer used by the old 12"x12"x4" sized digicom
- V.32. I have to see what happens if power is applied
- before seeing how damaged it is.
-
- Any info people might have would be appriciated.
