- V.32bis is full duplex.

- Over the years Rockwell Modem Systems has developed MANY modem chipsets.
- Most of which are presumably good value for the money, since they have
- sold very well.
-
- If you are not happy with your modem, why keep it ?
-
- A V.32bis/V.42bis 14400 bps modem with compression should cost somewhere
- between $200 and $700 depending on brand name and features (fax,
- caller-ID, voice I/O, internal/external, bundled software). If you paid
- less than $200, it is very unlikely that you got a V.32bis modem.
- If you don't know what you are buying, and you don't know what to
- expect, you probably should not be spending this kind of money.
-
- A 2400bps data modem with compression OR send-only fax should cost $95
- to $175. This is a noticeable improvement over 1200bps. If you don't
- regularly do significant file downloading, that is probably all you
- need.
