- And I thought I was just tired... Qmodem- locked up on me 3 times when I
- first used it. If I remember correctly, the misbehaviour occured when I was
- tinkering with the initialization strings in the install setup; after
- defining my own string, I changed my mind and went for the prewritten Scout+
- line-- and down it went. Don't remember what triggered the other incidents.
- I reinstalled the software after it went flakey, and haven't had any further
- problems. I don't use Qmodem often, though. Hard to believe it isn't
- mousable yet; this isn't much of an improvement over the old shareware
- version. Heck, it just might be the shareware version... What do you think
- of the pro version?
-
- My concerns with initialization strings, etc., were misdirected. A Zeos
- technician quickly ruled out the Scout as the source of the problems, and
- narrowed it down to either a corrupt CMOS setup (on- board serial port b not
- really disabled), or something amok with my BIOS chip. I erased the CMOS
- setup and re-entered the info; no difference. I used to have unusual
- problems with my keyboard; I'm betting the problem's with my BIOS chip, and
- will soon replace it. Never heard of this happening before, though.
