- No, you can't change the chip characteristics.. you CAN replace the 16450
- with a 16550 though...

- No, the rep knew what he was talking about.. the serial is on one of those
- multi-i/o cards- he doesn't actually HAVE a 16450 UART, he has an ASIC
- with circuitry that emulates a 16450... so, if he wants a 16550, the only
- way to go is to get an internal modem with a 16550 built in or get another
- serial card with 16550s.
